Dr. Madhu Giri, PhD, is a faculty (Lecturer) at the Central Department of Anthropology. Dr. Giri has more than 15 years of experience in the fields of teaching, research, writing, and development consultancy. Besides teaching-supervision in MA and MPhil-PhD, he has extensive engagement on research in the areas of governance, caste/ethnic transformations, identity issues, gender empowerment, issues of Dalits, landlessness, disaster and community resilience, and social movement of marginalized communities. He has worked as an ethnographic researcher, evaluation team leader/expert, research coordinator, consultant, capacity-building trainer, and research consultant in various institutions. Dr. Giri has developed the syllabus for Research Methodology in Counseling, Anthropology of disaster and resilience, Anthropology of Nepal and the Himalayas, and Physical Anthropology in Anthropology, TU and MPhil courses in Nepal Open University. Dr. Giri's PhD dissertation in titled Political-Economic Dimensions of Marginalization of the Musahar Community of East-Central Tarai, explored trajectories of landlessness of the Musahars, cultural politics of identity, movements and social justice of marginalized Musahars. He has proved his gradual progressive track expertise through various publications, research grants, training, and presentation in workshops and seminars.
