Born and grew up in Baglung district, west of Nepal. Dr. Khattri is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the Central Department of Anthropology at Tribhuvan University, Kritipur, Kathmandu, Nepal. Dr. Khattri is a Subject Committee Member of Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. He has obtained his Master's Degree in Social Anthropology from Tribhuvan University, an MPhil in Archaeology (specializing in Ethno-archaeology) from the University of Bergen, Norway, and a Doctorate Degree in Anthropology specializing in the ethnographic study of climate change from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Dr. Khattri has more than two decades of work experience in teaching, research, and publication. Dr. Khattri has worked as a research Team Leader, and principal investigator in various research projects. Currently, he is the Co-Principle Investigator of a national priority research project at CERID, TU titled Revitalizing Social Sciences in Tribhuvan University: Historical Trends, Present Status, and Future Directions, He is also the principal investigator of the research title, Challenges of Yak Herding in Upper Mustang: An Analysis of Motivation to Continue Yak Herding by the Drokpa Younger Generations, funded by UGC, Nepal, 2023.
Dr, Khattri has published several articles in national and international including ranked journals and edited volumes. Dr. Khattri is an Editor-in-Chief of the Dhaulagiri Journal of Sociology and Anthropology (http://www.nepjol.info/index.php/DSAJ) since its inception. This journal is reputed for regular publication and its field scope. Dr. Khattri has written a book as co-author. He has updated his expertise through various training and participated in workshops and national and international seminars. His area of interest is the Environment, particularly in climate change, heritage conservation, development, social inclusion, visual anthropology, spiritual anthropology, and natural resource management. Dr. Khattri is active in organizing and presenting papers in national and international seminars. He acted as a co-convener of Panel P025: Himalayan Anthropology: Issues of Climate Dynamics and Corporate Sustainability (https://iuaes2023delhi.org/panelabstracts.aspx?pid=43) at the World Anthropological Union Congress 2023 in New Delhi, India. Dr. Khattri is the convener of a panel Himalayan Anthropology: Exploring Institutions, Elitism and Studying Up (https://waucongress.org/panel/pn59/) at the World Anthropological Union Congress 2024 in South Africa. Dr Khattri has visited several countries such as the USA, Russia, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Belgium, The Netherlands, India, and different parts of Nepal.
